New Year’s Resolutions for Your Apartment
With the new year upon us, you are probably in the middle of deciding resolutions and goals for 2020. Whether you are looking for self-improvement or ways to help others, chances are your goals are achievable with some hard work. However, your external environment can play a huge part in your success, which is why we recommend setting resolutions for your apartment. If your home is clean, tidy, and thriving, you will most likely follow suit!
Create a Plan
One big spring clean goes a long way, but to maintain healthy living conditions it is important to develop a system of consistency. Perhaps over the last year you fell behind on chores and rent, that doesn’t mean this year has to be the same. Starting in 2020, develop a plan and try to stick to it. Perhaps use a calendar and write out which days you want to do chores, pay your rent, have friends over, etc. Even if you don’t stick to it exactly, making a conscious effort to be better will help over time.
Declutter
Leave 2019 in the past and the clutter with it! Go through your belongings and throw out or donate anything you no longer use or need. It will be hard to make a fresh start this year if you have past clutter weighing you down. Hopefully during the holidays you’ve received some awesome presents, which means you can make room for them by throwing out some old things. A clean room also means a clean mind, so by decluttering, hopefully you will feel emotionally and physically ready to take on your new challenges.
Safety First
Over the past year, and perhaps with the disassembly of your holiday decorations, there is a good chance that safety fell to the wayside. Make it a resolution to safety proof your apartment. This resolution doesn’t just entail the locks on your door, but also carbon monoxide detectors, overloaded extension cords, fire detectors, and much more. Check your dryer lint trap for buildup, make sure your windows are all secured, and make sure your home is a safe and healthy environment for you to thrive in.
Now that you have some ideas on New Year’s resolutions for you and your home, which ones do you plan on implementing? We hope your new year is great and filled with accomplishment.
